MERITA
MERITA - where chamber Music, cultural heritage and TAlent meet
Merita is a new European project with the aim of increasing the visibility and concert activity of 38 European, younger string quartets. Through this three-year project, the quartets receive training in marketing and finance, and a total of 16 organizations in 12 countries are ready to receive them for between 150 and 200 concerts.
One of the objectives is to reach a new audience through innovative programs and venues.
Many of the concerts will take place in protected, historic buildings.
The project is mainly financed by EU funds, and is run by the Italian organization Le Dimore del Quartetto in Milan. The project started in September 2022 and will end in August 2025.
The Lofoten International Chamber Music Festival will host six of the quartets in 2024 and 2025.
