In just a little over a week, the traditional, classical festival concert that opens this year's chamber music festival will be ready. In this appetizer at Lofoten Kulturhus, this year's artists will be presented in a varied, entertaining and festive program.
And which artists are we talking about?
This year we have a larger stable than ever, and some of the artists must be said to be among the world's top.
Here we mention a few:
Pianit Marc-André Hamelin from Canada
Pianist Anna Fedorova from Ukraina
String quartet Marmen from England
Piano trioen Trio Con Brio Copenhagen
In addition, we of course have our own house band Engårdkvartetten with our artistic director, the firework Arvid Engegård at the helm. It will be revisited by the Norwegian pianist Joachim Carr, who is actually one-eighth Lofoten. He has actually recorded a CD in Stamsund Church.
For the first time, we have two Norwegian folk musicians: singer Berit Opheim and on the Hardanger fiddle Per Anders Buen Garnås.
And as if this were not enough, we have two young string quartets: Goldberg from Italy and Gerhard from Spain. These two ensembles play partly in the official program, but also contribute outside with both packed lunch concerts and some private concerts. This year too, there will be time for a concert in what is perhaps Lofoten's most beautiful building, Flakstad Church.
As last year, the festival will get off to a flying start with a packed lunch concert at the library in Meieriet til Kultursenter already this Friday.
The entire program is presented in detail on the festival's website.. www.lofotenfestival.com
