On June 25th, 2025, the final Transnational Project Meeting of MERITA – the European platform dedicated to emerging string quartets – will take place in Paris. Organized by ProQuartet, together with Le Dimore del Quartetto, this event marks the culmination of a transformative three-year journey that has reshaped the landscape of chamber music and cultural heritage across Europe.
MERITA, led by Le Dimore del Quartetto in collaboration with 16 organizations from 12 different countries and winner of the Creative Europe – European Platform 2021 call, was created to revolutionize the visibility, mobility, and career sustainability of young European string quartets.
Over the past three years, the digital platform has successfully connected 38 quartets – comprising 152 outstanding musicians – with historic venues, cultural institutions, and audiences across the continent, fostering a dynamic ecosystem where music and heritage come together to create new value. Within the framework of MERITA, the platform has facilitated 38 artistic residencies, each culminating in a test concert, and supported an extensive concert program with 100 performances scheduled between March 2024 and June 2025, followed by an additional 16 concerts in July and August 2025.
This final meeting serves as a key moment to reflect on MERITA’s remarkable achievements. Since its launch, the platform has pioneered new approaches to integrating classical music within Europe’s cultural fabric, moving performances beyond the traditional concert hall and breathing new life into historical locations. Through an innovative mix of digital tools and live experiences, MERITA has expanded the reach of chamber music, engaged new audiences, and set new standards for the sustainable promotion of emerging artists.
“A moving and truly meaningful milestone. These past three years have enriched us and broadened our horizons. Working within a network means no longer being alone, it means mutual support, shared inspiration, and growth through our differences. It also means joining forces to design tailored pathways that support the professional development of emerging ensembles, acknowledging their unique identities and offering them the care and attention they deserve” - Francesca Moncada President of Le Dimore del Quartetto and Project Manager of MERITA.
